Completing a course recce -- why?

Doing a course recce before race day should be a key part of your race preparation!

  • Familiarise with the Course:

Doing a recce helps you understand the course layout, terrain, and key landmarks. Identifying any challenges early, such as steep hills or technical turns, means there won't be any surprises on race day. This should give you a confidence boost and reduce stress.

  • Optimal Pacing and Nutrition:

Knowing the course profile lets you plan where to push harder and where to conserve energy, as well as the best spots for hydration and nutrition intake.

  • Test Gear and Equipment:

A recce allows you to trial your race gear in similar conditions, ensuring everything functions well and making necessary adjustments before the actual race.
